A category where every competitor
sounds identical.

QTS sells wholesale and hyperscale data center capacity into a market whose vendors describe themselves in the same words. The work was not a website. It was building one system out of a digital presence, a social program and an email program that had been running as three.

The situation,as it arrived.

Data center buyers compare on power, cooling, compliance and location, and every provider in the category claims all four. Read six competitor sites in a row and the language converges: scalable, secure, mission-critical. A buyer cannot tell them apart, so the choice defaults to price or to whoever was already on the list.

QTS had the position to differentiate and three separate programs describing it. The website said one thing, the social channels another, and the email program spoke to a list that had not been segmented against how the company actually sells.

What we did

Four moves,in the order they happened.

01

Read the category before writing anything

We audited how the category speaks — the words every competitor uses, and therefore the words that cannot carry a difference. That produced the constraint the messaging had to work inside rather than a blank page.

02

One message architecture across three channels

The site, the social program and the email program were rewritten against a single hierarchy, so a buyer meeting QTS on LinkedIn and again in an inbox reads one company rather than three departments.

03

Rebuild the digital presence around it

Structure, content and templates rebuilt so the argument survives the person updating the page, and so the site can carry campaign traffic rather than only brand traffic.

04

Run it as one system, against revenue

Social, email and site measured together against the revenue target rather than each against its own vanity metric. That is the change that produced the numbers below.

What shipped

Everything thatleft the building.

  • Message architecture across the portfolio
  • Rebuilt digital presence, structure and templates
  • Social program, planned and run
  • Email program, segmented against the sales motion
  • One reporting view across all three, tied to revenue goals
