Pyxl Develops iPhone Application for Half Off Depot
Knoxville, Tenn. – February 23, 2011 – As consumer demand for convenience continues to rise, more and more companies are seeing the necessity in releasing mobile applications to improve customer engagement. Digital marketing firm Pyxl today announced a continued push in mobile application development with the launch of Half Off Depot’s application for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
“With approximately 70 million Americans using their mobile devices to download and use mobile applications, there is a unique opportunity for businesses to provide value to their customer base,” said Josh Phillips, president of Pyxl.
Half Off Depot, a shopping website offering daily deals to the best shops, restaurants, bars, attractions and events in a variety of cities across the U.S. and Canada, realized this value and turned to Pyxl to design and develop the company’s first official mobile application.
The app, which is currently available for free download in the Apple App Store, enables deal seekers to browse discounts from 50-90 percent off at shops, restaurants, bars, attractions and events in their respective cities on-the-go. The new app allows users to access Half Off Depot’s virtual shopping mall of discounts, with the option to purchase deals in just one click.
Through the course of the project, the Pyxl team demonstrated their understanding of the complexities in mobile application development.
The app integrates directly into Magento Enterprise, the ecommerce platform used by Half Off Depot, was constructed using Objective-C, and communicates to Half Off Depot’s live site using PHP. By tying directly into Half Off Depot’s website, the ecommerce app is able to show real-time product availability.
