Pyxl Owner and Chief Advisor Receives Young Entrepreneur Award
Knoxville, Tenn. – May 24, 2011 – The Knoxville Chamber recently presented Brian Winter, founder and lead advisor of digital marketing firm Pyxl, with the Young Entrepreneur Award — one of nine Pinnacle Awards recognizing the best in Knoxville business.
Since 2005, the Pinnacle Business Awards, under the direction of the Knoxville Chamber Board of Directors, has recognized 46 award winners. This year’s winners were announced on May 6 at the Pinnacle Business Awards Gala.
The Young Entrepreneur Award is awarded yearly to a professional age 40 or younger that has overcome obstacles while achieving large success. The award is bestowed upon someone expected to be a top leader in Knoxville’s business community.
Winter is an experienced sales and marketing executive that has turned around global sales and marketing teams for Fortune 500 companies, such as Sun Microsystems, as well as built sales and marketing teams for venture-backed technology start-ups. As Pyxl’s founder and lead advisor, he currently uses his knowledge in digital marketing to advise the Pyxl team.
“The Young Entrepreneur Award could not have been given to someone more deserving than Brian,” said Josh Phillips, president of Pyxl. “Brian embodies the entrepreneurial spirit, and his experience and insight have been vital to Pyxl’s growth over the past few years.”
In the two years since Winter purchased Pyxl (then Image Communications), the company has grown significantly in terms of revenue, full-time employees and client base. In the last 18 months, Pyxl has launched award-winning websites for Pilot Flying J and the Consumer Electronics Association.
The seventh annual Pinnacle Awards took place at the Knoxville Convention Center and were presented by BB&T. The nine award categories recognized a variety of businesses that contribute to the thriving economy of Knoxville.
