KNOXVILLE, Tenn. June 19, 2014 – Maryville College, a four-year, private liberal arts college located between the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Knoxville, recently won the Gold award from the Tennessee College Public Relations Association for MyCollegePath.com, a ‘University Related Website’ created by Pyxl, digital marketing firm recently named on the Inc. 5000 list. This site is an extension of Maryville College with the purpose of educating high school students on the college admission process and preparing them for what to expect.
The TCPRA is an alliance of communicators who represent the colleges and universities, public and private, two-year technical schools, technology centers and community colleges that together define higher education in Tennessee. The 2014 TCPRA Communications Gold award for ‘University Related Website’ went to Maryville College, followed by UT Knoxville with Silver and MTSU with Bronze.
“As college admission professionals, we are dedicated to educating students, parents, and school counselors with relevant, timely and important college search information, even if they are not specifically considering Maryville College,” said Cyndi Sweet, Maryville College Director of Admissions. “The information on mycollegepath.com is intended for anyone involved in the college search process. The partnership between Pyxl and Maryville College to sponsor such a site is the perfect example of community partnerships serving the greater good.”
MyCollegePath.com serves as an educational site for high school students preparing to embark on the college search and application process. There are blog posts, eBooks, checklists, quizzes and more to engage students and help them along their journey to college. Through inbound marketing and digital communications, the core content of MyCollegePath.com resonates with students because it acts as a friendly guide, providing answers to questions they’ve asked and many they’ve not even thought about yet.
The strong messaging throughout the site ties back to the students’ needs – with blog posts like ‘5 tips for writing your college resume’ or ‘3 questions to ask on your college visit’ – and aligns with Maryville College’s dedication to providing all students an equal opportunity to learn about the college process. Whether students are just beginning their college search or are preparing to leave home, MyCollegePath.com meets them where they are and offers advice for every stage of the process.
“We really enjoyed working on this project with Maryville College because we were able to thoughtfully combine all of our areas of expertise and create something that isn’t readily available anywhere else,” said Josh Phillips, president of Pyxl. “Our developers, designers and copywriters worked together to create one seamless experience for the end user – high school students. It is exciting to see its success and know we are aiding students in the college process.”
