The holiday season is right around the corner! Black Friday and Cyber Monday are a huge source of revenue for E-Commerce sites, as well as brick-and-mortar stores. This blog will go into detail about ideas for writing content and promoting on social media, the most optimal days and times to post on your social channels and advice for running successful campaigns during the holiday season.

Three major consumer events occur during the holiday season: Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Giving Tuesday. The key to running a successful holiday season campaign is to strategically plan your campaigns around your buyer personas. Start by creating social media posts that engage your core audience with photos, interesting content or links to your business’ blog posts or website. The amazing deals you want to promote on Black Friday or Cyber Monday should speak directly to your target market.

To mix it up a bit, try taking a break from trying to promote your product and participate in Giving Tuesday. This would be a great time to highlight your company’s charitable giving. For example, Pyxl donates to the Salvation Army on Giving Tuesday.

Thinking of the perfect social media post can be a difficult task, but here are some ideas to make the process more efficient for you and your business:

  • According to Forbes, people enjoy humorous, inspiring or motivational quotes; including a relevant quote in your social media post can help the performance of your campaign.
  • Be sure to include photos in your posts as well; allowing your current and potential customers to see the product will give you a better chance of running a successful campaign.
  • Another key is to be certain your social media posts are branded consistently across all social media platforms.
  • Finally, ask for input from current customers to get a better idea of what they want and what should be done to satisfy their needs.

According to research done by Coschedule, social media posts perform better at certain times of the day, and each platform varies in the times that are considered optimal. Statistically, 80% of the US population lives in either the Eastern or Central time zone, with 50% living in the Eastern time zone. Therefore, optimal practice suggests you should schedule your posts around the Eastern or Central time zone.

For Facebook, research shows that the best days to post are from Thursday to Sunday, with the best times being 9 am, 1 pm and 3 pm. Fun fact: research shows that people are happier on Fridays due to it being the start of the weekend for most people. Who doesn’t love the weekend? Taking this into consideration, a more engaging post on Friday might actually fair well for your business.

Surprisingly, Twitter has a higher engagement score for Business 2 Business (B2B) companies that post during business hours. The optimal day to post on twitter is Wednesday around noon to 3 pm. The trouble is, compiling your ideas into 140 characters can be a challenge. Do your best to make it short and sweet and remember to engage your core buyer personas.

Pinterest is a weekend warrior, with Coschedule research showing indicating poor performance during the week. Pins with the most traction on Pinterest are posted on Friday or Saturday. The best times to post vary with Pinterest, ranging from 8-11 pm on Saturdays and 3 pm on Fridays. The worst performing time to post on Pinterest is (not surprisingly) during business hours.

LinkedIn does well during the middle of the week, specifically Tuesday through Thursday. Mondays and Fridays have the lowest engagement scores according to the research. The best times to post on LinkedIn are 7 to 8 am, 12 pm and the most optimal time from 5 to 6 pm.

Another crucial thing to keep in mind when promoting your services on social media is to use keywords. A keyword can help consumers who do not know about your business find you when searching for a product or service you offer in the vast world of the Internet.

Hopefully these useful tips will help your business run a successful campaign this holiday season. Remember to engage your personas with interesting, informative content and pictures of the products or services you are offering. Test out these optimal times and measure the progress of engagement with your social media posts. Finally, don’t forget to have a great holiday season!
