It’s officially April 1st, and everyone is taking this day more seriously than ever. Today’s the day when Pac-Man takes over the streets, selfies reach a whole new level and we get reminded of why the 90s were such a great decade.

Not sure what we’re talking about? Fear not, my friend! Read up on some of this year’s best April Fool’s jokes.

Why we miss the 90s

Amazon doesn’t cease to amaze us, and today was no exception. Users all over the world were astonished when they realized that Amazon went retro for April Fool’s Day. From the Whoopee Cushion to Cubicle Warfare book, they presented a new homepage in the purest 1999 style.

Even though the old-school site disappears when you click on any link, Amazon did a great job reminding us why the 90s were the bomb.

All is fair in love and pranks

Apps like Uber and Tinder have grown extremely popular among the younger crowd. But what happens when you mix them up? Tinder for Uber and Uber for Tinder gives us a pretty close idea.

While the first one invites users to sign up and make a Tinder match with their Uber driver, the latter offers Uber services for people who have matched on Tinder. These two mix-ups received millions of visits today and have led some to wonder why they don’t exist outside of an April Fool’s joke.

It’s a selfie world

The tech world has been revolutionized once again. However, this time, the revolution has one main character: the infamous selfie.

Twitter, Honda and Miz Mooz took the plunge during April Fool’s Day and amazed the public with some pretty unusual gadgets:

  • The Twelfie Stick by Twitter is a device that allows you to take selfies and share them on Twitter instantly.
  • The very particular Honda HR-V is equipped with 10 selfie cameras that allow you to take selfies only when the car is in drive.
  • Miz Mooz came up with the Selfie Shoe, a very fashionable shoe that helps you take hands-free selfies wherever you go.

After hearing about all these inventions, we are fearful that the conventional selfie stick era might be coming to an end.

Pac-Man is not dead

Just like they did last year, Google Maps came up with a clever April Fool’s prank by mixing their maps with video games. This year, however, the joke is installed and ready to be enjoyed. While some websites are determined to share some not-so-great ideas (sorry, selfie shoes), Google is delighting users by letting them turn their maps into Pac-Man games. The feature is available for mobile devices and it transforms the map you’re looking at into the classic arcade game.

We don’t know how long the feature will be available, so 80s kids, enjoy it while it lasts!

The essential is invisible to the eye

Today, Pop Chart Lab sent its clients an email with an offer they couldn’t refuse. For only $29, you can now purchase The Infographic of Invisible Things. This 18” x 24” poster portrays, with meticulous details, 30 of the most famous invisible objects and characters of all time, including invisible images of Harry Potter’s invisible cloak and of Randall from Monsters, Inc., among others.

Even though the product is real and completely visible, Pop Chart illustrates a humorous, yet artistic way to celebrate April Fool’s.
