7 Twitter Engagement Tips for Reaching Your Audience
Twitter isn’t just a social media platform for the snarkiest people out there. Twitter can be a fantastic way to reach your audience where they are interacting with their friends and other brands. After conducting detailed research and finding your buyer personas, use these Twitter tips to reach your audience and keep them engaged with your brand:
1. Make a Good First Impression
The first things that your potential customer is going to see are your profile picture, Twitter handle and bio.
- Profile Picture
Use a company logo or be creative and use a picture of a person or character. Just make sure that whatever image it is, it accurately represents the company as a whole. - Twitter Handle
Your Twitter handle should reinforce your brand identity. Don’t just expect people to find you on Twitter. Share your @username via online and offline collateral you’re your email signature, business cards or store signage. - Bio
Your profile bio should explain who you are and what you have to offer. It serves to characterize your company on Twitter. Remember to limit hashtags and usernames to keep the focus squarely on your business.
2. Engage
Human to human relationship is essential. Your audience wants real customer relations and to be a part of the conversation. We recommend posting industry-related items more than you’re posting sales pitches. A safe rule of thumb is three non-sales posts for every one.
3. Educate
Customers need to understand your product. They have many choices amidst the overload of available information on the web. What they really need is educational content about the industry, market trends, etc. This is what will differentiate your brand from the competition and explains to your customer why you are their best option.
4. Monitor
Social media has made it incredibly easy to listen to your audience. However, the difference between being reactive and proactive is what will set your brand apart from the rest. Simply responding to social media posts is not enough. Your audience wants to see what measures you will take to satisfy their needs.
5. Consider Promoting Your Account
Promoted accounts appear in the “Who to follow” column and are a great way to start the conversation. Promoting your account enables you to quickly build your community of followers by getting your message in front of users who meet the characteristics of your buyer personas.
6. Take advantage of Twitter’s metrics
Twitter’s real-time analytics give you information on campaigns, followers and tweet activity. Under the Campaigns dashboard, you can see the number of users that saw one of your paid ads. Basic information about your followers can be found under the Followers dashboard. You can also use the Tweet Activity dashboard to get a comprehensive view of all your tweets.
7. Experiment and be creative!
Take advantage of photos, videos and hashtags. Determine what works best for your target audience. Remember to be creative but professional at the same time.
