It’s a new year, so why not try out some new apps for content marketing? With all the information we’re constantly bombarded with as digital marketers, it’s essential we find a way to manage and sort though all the data. If you aren’t already, you should start using these tools to increase your effectiveness as a content marketer this year.
Mention
Mention is a social monitoring app that allows you to monitor mentions of your brand or a client from almost anywhere on the Internet. You can monitor everything from a name to a company or product. From there, you can monitor mentions from social accounts, news organizations, videos, forms, blogs, images and basically anywhere on the Internet you can think of. You can scroll through a timeline and mark relevant mentions, as well as opt to receive an email blast with the most important mentions. Additionally, you have the ability to manage the social media accounts for your brand or client and add team members as well.
Facebook Search
Not only can Facebook Search track down anything you’ve posted, you can use Facebook Search to help tailor content to appeal to your target audience. At Pyxl, we can search something like “interests liked by people who like Pyxl” to get an idea of what our followers are interested in and create content around that. We can continue to narrow that down by searching “regions liked by people who like Pyxl” and “companies liked by people who like Pyxl” and so on. By cross referencing these lists, we’ve now gathered valuable data about our followers we can use to help create content that will appeal to them.
Buffer
Similar to social management platforms like Hootsuite, Buffer allows you to manage social media accounts from one place. Within Buffer, you can schedule content, view analytics and even get suggestions for what content to post. You can add team members to your Buffer account for easy collaboration. Buffer also has a mobile app, browser extension, desktop app and integrations with read-it-later applications for quick and easy sharing.
Feedly
Think of Feedly as your own personalized newspaper. You can create different feeds based on topics or trends and add different websites to that specific feed. Feedly then creates your own personal digest of articles pulled from the websites you added, giving you a quick snapshot of topics and trends each day. Feedly can be integrated with applications like Pocket, Instapaper, Buffer, Evernote, Hootsuite and social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. It syncs between your computer and mobile devices, so you can access and read it from anywhere.
Evernote
So, now that you’ve gathered all this information, what’s the best way to store it? Personally, I’m a big fan of Evernote, which allows you to save and categorize basically any kind of information out there. Evernote can do everything from recording your meetings to storing your documents and notes. It can be accessed anywhere from any device from the web application, mobile application or desktop application and syncs seamlessly across devices.
